#1 - Week One
/DISCOVERING MY TOPIC
In the last semester my agency worked on a business strategy to find a way to preserve historical culture. This semester I wanted to build on that idea and explore Scottish history and culture as my personal research narratives project.
To give you some context, I have always loved UK culture and I love history. Every historian has a sacred region they like to investigate and I love to learn about the history of the British Isles and Ireland. The more I looked into the differences between Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland, the more I felt a connection to Scottish history. Being an American, I could see so many ways in which the Scottish diaspora created the culture in the US. I spent years reading about modern day culture and past history. I came to the University of Edinburgh I wanted to live in Scotland and I wanted to attend the famous school that was such a legend in all of my books. I wanted to use my time in Scotland to discover everything about Scottish culture and history that I couldn’t discover simply through books and television while living in the United States. This is what formed my motivation for choosing this as my Personal Research Narratives Project
